I have some exciting news! My sister, Ann, and I are launching a Kickstarter to help our Pootie Pad business update its website, advertise on the internet, and to provide the wherewithal for us to make enough stock to meet demand. Pootie Pads are small, durable quilts filled with organic herbs — catnip for cats, lavender and thyme for dogs, and lavender for people. They were first developed right here on Daily Kos for the community of animal lovers known affectionately as the Pootie Peeps (or PWB Peeps).

We had been making community quilts for some time, quilts bearing messages from Daily Kos members to people suffering from illness or other hardship. This is very uplifting, soul-satisfying work, but it is also very time consuming and it is often hard to get by on the money we get for it. We are hopeful that the Pootie Pad business will provide a good living for us and, in time, allow us to employ others here in Portland, OR. Yes, we want to create jobs!
